The Psalm 61 study entitled Hear My Cry O God; Attend Unto My Prayer is now available here.
What kind of prayer is heard of God, and why are some prayers not heard, or are they all heard but just not acted upon by our great God and Father?
This study looks more closely at this relationship of prayer and how God is working with the elect as He did with Christ (1Joh 4:17) to bring us to a place of strong crying and tears so that we can be saved from these bodies of death (Heb 5:7) and from whatever God is going to allow to come upon us at the hands of men (Mat 10:28).
1Jn 4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
Heb 5:7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;
Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
In this same chapter of John we are told to love one another which is obedience to his commandments (1Joh 4:7 , 1Joh 5:2). The correlation of fervent prayer being made for the body of Christ is one of many ways that we show this love and obedience toward each other and Christ (Luk 21:36 , 1Th_1:2 , 2Th 1:11). In this age we are blessed to be able to intervene on behalf of our body, the body of Christ as we come boldly before the throne of grace to obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need (Heb 4:16).
1Jn 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
1Jn 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
Luk 21:36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
1Th 1:2 We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;
2Th 1:11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:
Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
