Psalm 80 “Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved”

Our 3-part study with Psalm 80 is available here.

This study entitled “Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved” reveals the progression of salvation that God gives his people as they come out of Egypt, or sinful flesh, which Egypt represents.

Christ is the son who is called out of Egypt (Hos 11:1), and God reveals to us that it is our relationship with the son of God (1Joh 4:17) that provides all that we will need to be “as he is” coming out of Egypt (Joh 17:3), putting off the flesh and maturing.

Hos 11:1  When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.

1Jn 4:17  Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

Joh 17:3  And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

This process drags us into the light of His word which, when received on a heart that has been crushed and made humble and contrite, can receive those words of Eternal life so we are able to be grafted into the true vine (Rom 11:17-18).

Rom 11:17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
Rom 11:18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.

This coming out of the earth, earth, earth (Jer 22:29), or Egypt, is not easy on the first man Adam and calls us to be a living sacrifice engaged in being about our Father’s business, which is symbolically seen as taking place in the vineyard (Luk 2:49 , 1Cor 3:16).

Jer 22:29  O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.

Luk 2:49  And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?

1Co 3:16  Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

This study tries to make it is clear that our deliverance from sin, or from Egypt, is completely up to God.
