Psalm 14 “Sanctified, and meet for the master’s use”

(Our study with Psalm 14 is available here)

God is preparing His people today to be pillars in the earth who will witness to the fact that God alone is the one who can bring us to be “Sanctified, and meet for the master’s use” as we follow Christ in each other and grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ (2Pet 3:18).

2Pe 3:18  But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

In this Psalm we look at the relationship and parallel way in which our Father uses the pillar of cloud and the pillar of fire in the wilderness which are both types of Christ, and his body, who come out of Egypt (Exo 13:21 , Hos 11:1 , Rev 18:4).

Exo 13:21  And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:

Hos 11:1  When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.

Rev 18:4  And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

Without going through the sanctification process, and the suffering that this entails we could never be “meet for the master’s use”. This Psalm demonstrates how God had determined from the foundation of the world to cleanse a few at first by purifying His word or sanctifying them with that word (Joh 17:17) through trials. God faithfully finishes what He starts in us for the benefit of the rest of the world who will be saved by saviors who will come up on mount Zion having been made ready and made “meet for the master’s use” through Christ (Oba 1:21).

Joh 17:17  Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Oba 1:21  And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD’S.

Our Father’s singular purpose for mankind has never changed, and it is in type and shadow the same commission that He gave Adam and Eve to be fruitful and multiply, only now the emphasis for God’s children is to be spiritually fruitful and prepared to save all the world by being made “meet for the master’s use” (Gen 1:28).

Gen 1:28  And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

In order for this spiritual fruit to be born so the earth can be replenished and subdued it will require Christ being sent into the earth (Luk 17:21 , Col 1:27), to give us dominion “over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth” within.

Luk 17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

Col 1:27  To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

This Psalm truly points to the foolish and unstable waters of our life when we are first in Babylon, embracing the knowledge of the world, and even the knowledge of God but without a mature mind and the ability to be one who discerns light and darkness, good and evil (Heb 5:14).

Heb 5:14  But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

The joyful conclusion of this Psalm is that God purifies our heavens if we are His in this age with better things than the sacrifices of bulls and goats, and sends us into the world as He sent Christ both while we are in the flesh and ultimately in all corners of the earth to accomplish His purpose of saving all of mankind in time as spirit beings (Heb 9:24-25 , Isa 26:9 , 1Cor 6:3 , Oba 1:21).

Heb 9:24  For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
Heb 9:25  Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;

Isa 26:9  With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

1Co 6:3  Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

Oba 1:21  And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD’S.
